interest in Guest Housing at the University of Illinois. University
Housing welcomes you as you begin your
work at the University of Illinois. Guest Housing apartments are located in Orchard
Downs, one of the University’s Family & Graduate Housing apartment communities. As
you are making your arrangements to come to the University, we are excited
to share this information about the housing options that are available to
you. This site covers the unique Guest Housing accommodations
offered by Family & Graduate Housing. The
Orchard Downs Guest Housing rates are $55/night, $350/week, and $1,000 month. A 6% tax is
included for stays of 30 days or less.
Orchard Downs Apartments are located 1.5 miles southeast of campus,
spanning over one-hundred acres of beautiful Midwestern landscape. This
area is conveniently located near shopping and campus.
Family & Graduate Housing Office:
The Family & Graduate Housing Office is open Monday thru
Friday 8am to 5pm. Family & Graduate Housing staff are happy to
answer any questions you may have about your accommodations, the
campus, or city attractions. The Family & Graduate Housing Office is
also where you will receive and return your keys.
Parking:
Parking is available in the lot near your apartment. You may obtain a
free Guest Parking Hang Tag from the Family & Graduate Housing
Office when you arrive. This hang tag is valid only at Orchard Downs.
Transportation:
Orchard Downs apartments are served by an award-winning city bus system.
Multiple bus stops are located within the Orchard Downs Community.
University students, faculty and staff with a valid University
identification card (ID) may ride the bus free of charge. Residents who
are not associated with the University may ride the bus for a nominal
fee.
Telephone Service:
The University provides a telephone and local phone service in the
individual guest apartment. For long distance calls we suggest using a
prepaid phone card.
Dining Services:
Dining Services are available in 8 of the undergraduate residence halls
during the academic year. If you are interested in purchasing meal
passes, please see the front desk at the Family & Graduate Housing
Office for more details.
Laundry:
There are two conveniently located coin-operated washer-dryer laundry
facilities in the area. The closest one to your apartment is located
between the 2040 and 2060 buildings, on Orchard Street.
Expecting Mail:
If you are expecting mail at your guest apartment, we will be happy to
provide you with a name label for your mail box. Please inquire at the
front desk.
Trash Disposal:
Garbage collection is provided six days a week. Dumpsters for trash
disposal are located conveniently throughout the community.
Cable Television:
All apartments have televisions and are wired for free basic cable
television.
Pets:
For your safety and that of other residents, pets are not allowed in
Family and Graduate Housing apartments.
Security:
Please keep your apartment locked at all times. Do not leave valuables
in your apartment. Do not admit persons to your apartment without first
asking for picture identification. All Housing employees are required to
wear identification badges.
Smoking:
University Apartments are smoke free, please be considerate of your
neighbors, and do not smoke in or near your apartment.
