Career Planner

Sophomore Year

Assess yourself:

  • Continue to assess your personal interests, needs, and skills.
  • Continue your self-directed exploration of specific occupations.
  • If you have not yet already, complete the ACT Discover online exploration program.

Use your Resources:

  • Meet with a Weston Exploration advisor to discuss your self assessment results.
  • Revise your resume.
  • Make contact with professionals in your chosen field and conduct an informational interview.
  • Participate in a variety of career development workshops offered by Weston Exploration.

Build your Network:

  • Continue to meet as many people as possible including faculty and staff members.
  • Coordinate an opportunity to "job shadow" a professional in your chosen field.

Gain Valuable Experience:

  • Investigate credential files of you’re considering health or graduate school.
  • Attempt to obtain a summer internship position and/or a job related to your major.

Get Involved:

  • Join and participate in student organizations directly related to your major.
  • Seek out leadership positions in student organizations.
  • Get involved in career-related activities like externships, internships, student organizations, volunteer and part time or summer employment.
