Senior Year

Assess yourself:

• If appropriate, complete graduate school applications and entrance exams.
• Narrow your job search, by considering industry, field, location, and pay.

Use your Resources:

• Meet with a Career advisor to review your resume and discuss your full-time job search strategy.
• Attend career development workshops offered by the Career Center.
• Update your E-Recruiting & Monstertrak profile.
• Develop cover letters and other business correspondence.
• Attend a "Business Etiquette" workshop.

Build your Network:

• Maintain and solidify your professional references.
• Use your personal and professional networks for job search assistance.
• Request letters of recommendation from faculty members and supervisors.

Gain Valuable Experience:

• Sign-up for a "Mock Interview" at the Career Center.
• Attend employer presentations and ALL career fairs.
• Interview for as many positions as possible.

Get Involved:

• Take a leadership role in a student organization.
• Mentor younger students in your major.
• Join professional organizations in your field.
• Read professional journals in your field.

Prepare for the Future:

• Prepare for your full-time position.
• Send formal thanks to your references.
• Join the UIUC Alumni Association.
• ENJOY YOUR LAST FEW MONTHS AT UIUC!
