Housing Recycling Guidelines
Paper: All paper including
high-grade office paper, magazines, and newspaper can be mixed
together.
Cans: Cans made of aluminum, tin,
and steel are acceptable. Rinse containers. It eliminates contaminants
in the recycling process.
Cardboard: Remove debris (i.e.,
packing peanuts, butter cups, and pizza crusts). Flatten and place by floor trash
containers.
Orchard Downs residents should take flattened cardboard to
containers located at all recycling drop-off sites. Goodwin-Green
residents should take flattened cardboard to container at the nearest
recycling site.
Plastic: Plastic bottles that
are PETE (#1) and HDPE (#2) are acceptable. (Such numbers are noted on
the bottom of containers.) Rinse containers. It eliminates contaminants
in the recycling process. Remove and throw away lids. No plastic bags,
please! Take them to local grocery stores.
Egg Cartons: Save up your egg
cartons, of any size, and bring them over to the Animal Science Department
any time of the year. You can drop them off Monday-Friday between 8:30am
and 5pm at:

Glass: Glass is not currently accepted
in University Housing; however, there are several
options for Champaign residents who wish to recycle.
