Collections
Statement
The collections are maintained by the Residence Hall Library System. The
collections primarily serve the educational, recreational, and
cultural information needs of first and second year undergraduate
students residing in the residence halls, and the living-learning
communities within the residence halls. The collection also serves
University Housing staff as well as the larger campus community,
including undergraduate and graduate students, and university faculty
and staff.
The Residence Hall collection seeks to act as a gateway for first and
second year undergraduate students, bridging them to the larger
University Library, while in the comfort of their own residence hall.
Strengths of the Residence Hall collection include a broad diversity and
social identity section as well as a current and expansive leisure
reading section. The collection consists of approximately 27,000 items
across nine locations, and includes monographs, periodicals, and media
materials.
A more detailed
explanation of our collection can be found in the
Collection Development Policy.
