Guidelines for RAs
For 2005-2006 Employment: All RAs can request to transfer to a
different hall provided that their current RD is willing to
rehire him/her for next semester/year. The transfer interview
process must be completed by December 17, 2004.
PROCESS:
This process is originated by the RA interested in transferring.
Decision must be completed prior to all RA hire deadlines.
- RA meets with current RD to discuss the possibility of
transferring. If approval from current RD is given, RA
continues. RA contacts transfer RD and requests appointment. The
RD has the right to grant or deny an interview.
- RA interviews with RD where she/he wishes to transfer.
- RDs discuss RA transfer candidate considering the needs of
the staff in each hall.
- RD who will be accepting the transfer RA notifies RA of
transfer decision.
POINTS TO CONSIDER:
- An RA must be in good standing in his/her hall to be
considered for a possible transfer.
- An RD can only interview RAs for transfer if there is a
definite opening.
- RDs wishing to consider transfer RAs need not interview
more than two RAs per position.
- RDs involved need to discuss the impact of the RA
transferring upon the hall he/she is leaving and the hall to be
joined. RDs should consider the strengths and weaknesses of the
RA, the RA’s motives for transferring, and the RA’s fit to the
hall and staff.
- RDs involved may wish to consult their respective Area
Coordinators for their ideas or suggestions.
- The final decision is up to the RD in the hall to receive
the RA and must be communicated verbally and in writing to the
RA prior to the dates stated above; copies of the letter should
be sent to the home RD and to 300 Clark Hall.
