Meal Plans: Detailed
Descriptions of Meal Plans
You have the
choice of three types of meal plans: Plans with Classic Meals
and Café Credits, plans with Classic meals only, and an All
Café Credits plan. Classic meals are all-you-care-to-eat breakfast,
lunch, and dinner. Credits are used in A La Carte locations, where items are
priced individually—you purchase only what you wish. Credits can
also be used to purchase a Classic meal, or to treat a friend to a
Classic Meal or A La Carte items. Café Credits are purchased as
part of a meal plan. You can add Extra Credits
at any time to your i-card.

Classic Meals
- A person can eat up to a maximum of 3 Classic meals per day
in a residence hall dining room, during traditional meal hours;
breakfast 7:00am–10:00am; lunch 11:00am–1:30pm and dinner
from approximately 4:45pm-6:30pm, depending on location and
day.
- The 3 Classic meals per day may consist of 1 breakfast, 1
lunch and 1 dinner up to the weekly total in the plan. A missed
Classic meal cannot be used later in the day (such as two meals
during the lunch period when missing breakfast).
- Classic meals can be used at any of the Specialty
restaurants, including Fat Don’s
- Unused Classic meals do not carry over to future weeks and
cannot be used to bring in guests.
- Classic meals cannot be used at A La Carte locations (only
Café Credits are accepted at A La Carte locations).
- Traditional dining rooms are located in the following
residence hall areas: Gregory Drive, Peabody Drive, Allen,
Busey-Evans, LAR, ISR, FAR, and PAR (closed for renovations during
2007-2008 school year). Anyone can eat in any
dining room regardless of the hall in which they live.
Café Credits
- 1 Café Credit has a value of 1 cent.
- Café Credits can be used to purchase food items at any A La
Carte location or to purchase Classic meals. When using Café
Credits for classic meals, breakfast uses 475 credits, lunch
uses 695 credits and dinner uses 995 credits.
- Café Credits can be used to purchase Classic meals or A La
Carte items for a guest.
- Café Credits are designed for use on a weekly basis. However,
you may rollover a maximum of one week’s worth of your plan’s
Café Credits to the following week, to a maximum balance of double your
weekly allotment.
- If you run out of your weekly plan allotment of Café Credits
in a week, you can buy Extra Credits to purchase additional
Classic meals or food items at A La Carte locations.
- A La Carte locations are as follows:
Busey Beanery: Monday-Thursday 9pm-12 midnight
e-Chomps (Gregory Drive): Monday-Thursday 9:30 am-12 midnight,

Extra Credits provide added flexibility. They can
be purchased at any time by students, faculty or staff and can be
used to purchase food items at A La Carte locations or to
purchase Classic meals held in residence hall dining rooms. They can
also be used to purchase meals at the Illini Union Ballroom. Extra
Credits can be purchased through the web with a credit card or at any area
office with cash or a check,
with no minimum required. Extra Credits never expire as long as a
person has an active i-card.
* Extra credits are not accepted at Fat Don's specialty restaurant;
only Classic meals and Café Credits can be used at Fat Don's.
